ABOUT

While attending Sonoma State University Sonia began working in the SSU costume shop. Working in the costume shop exposed her to the world of theatre and costuming. She had always been fascinated with clothing and the world of Fashion and her fondness for fashion grew and transformed to a deep love of costumes and their power in communicating story and emotion. She soon began designing student productions and upon graduating worked professionally in the North Bay Area and in Los Angeles.

In 2016 Sonia was awarded a Costume Design Assistantship through the F.A.I.R program at The Oregon Shakespeare Festival and returned to the Festival as Costume Design Assistant on multiple productions such as Manahatta, Cambodian Rock Band, and Between Two Knees. Sonia is a bi-coastal artist based in Los Angeles and is currently working as Associate Costume Designer on Between Two Knees opening for its second stop on its tour at McCarter Theatre in Princeton. When in LA she works as an Assistant Stylist and PA for TV & Film. She is incredibly passionate about Story telling and supporting it in its many forms and is a member Of In The Margin an arts advocacy organization in which she works as Producing Director.
